Franco Skilan is a third generation Registered Piano Technician (RPT) of the Piano Technicians Guild with over 30 years experience in Piano Restoration and Service.As a young boy of 8, Franco began his training. He would clean and prepare Actions for his father, Giovanni, to begin restorative measures. At age 16 he was taking piano tuning lessons from former PTG president Don Morton, and by age 18 he was tuning and preparing all of his fathers' rebuilt Steinways. 

In the late 1980's, Franco began working with Dennis Hagerty, President and CEO of Keyboard Concepts and the world famous David L. Abell Fine Pianos in Beverly Hills, CA. He quickly had a plethora of new and used pianos to tune, regulate and voice to different customer's specifications. This is where a lot of the mystery was taken out of the piano maintenance field, and practical and crucial knowledge of piano manufacturing was gleaned. It is also where he learned to distinguish how a piano should actually sound and play. "In order to restore a piano properly, one should know what the ultimate goal of touch and tone should be!"

In 1989 Franco established Precision Piano Services in Los Angeles, CA for the Restoration of high-end, hand built pianos with a special emphasis on Steinway and Sons. With exclusive Restoration work for Keyboard Concepts and David L. Abell Fine Pianos, and with an extensive private clientele, Franco has restored countless Steinway and Sons and other hand made fine pianos.
